Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced four new highway projects for Delhi and the surrounding areas, a total of an investment of Rs 12,500, before the announcement of the Delhi elections. focusing on air pollution and traffic congestion, which will help to decrease the load on cars coming from outside Delhi. Additionally, he announced that the national capital would receive Rs 1,200 crore from the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).

 

A day after seven Delhi BJP MPs made chese requests of him, Nitin Gadkari announced four new highway projects for Delhi. Of these, a tunnel from Shiv Murti to Nelson Mandela Marg had previously been sanctioned, and preparatory work had started. Following the state's elections, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini spoke with Gadkari about connecting the Delhi-Katra Expressway to Urban Extension Road (UER) II via the KMP Expressway.

 

  • First Project: According to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the cost of the 20-kilometer KMP expressway link between UER-II and the Delhi-Katra Expressway would be approximately Rs 2,500 crore. For cars traveling to IGI airport and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway from J&K and Punjab.

 

  • Second project: An access-controlled, six-lane greenfield expressway covering 17 kilometers, linking Alipur's UER-II to Ghaziabad's Tronica City via the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. Vehicles coming from Haryana and Rajasthan are able to access Dehradun directly. The estimated budget for the project is Rs 2,200 crore, and it is expected to be finished in two years.

 

  • Third project: A 5-kilometer tunnel, with an estimated cost of Rs 3,500 crore, will be constructed in Vasant Kunj to connect Shiv Murti to Nelson Mandela Marg, according to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. According to plans, the tunnel will ease congestion between Delhi and Gurugram and prevent traffic in Mahipalpur and Rangpuri.

 

  • Fourth project: The 35-kilometer-long new highway is projected to cost Rs 4,400 crore, and there is a plan for connecting it to Noida, which will improve the Delhi-Dehradun transit. Bypassing east Delhi, this road will connect north, north-west, and south-west Delhi to Noida directly via Ghaziabad.

 

Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, indicated that the government has implemented numerous projects that have relieved traffic congestion and diminished air pollution in Delhi, the capital of the nation. Approximately Rs 60,000 crore in developments have been executed in Delhi and its surrounding regions.
