Traffic congestion has become a serious everyday issue in Delhi, especially in areas where road width is limited and vehicle movement is high. One such major problem zone is Sonia Vihar Pushta Road in Wazirabad, where commuters regularly face long traffic jams during peak hours.
This route is extremely important because it connects several residential localities and also acts as a key road towards the UP Border and Tronica City. Due to heavy traffic load and slow movement, people travelling through this road often waste a significant amount of time daily.
To solve this problem, the government is now planning a major infrastructure upgrade for this area.
Nanaksar Gurudwara (Wazirabad) to Tronica City (UP Border): 6 KM Portal Flyover Plan
As per the latest Delhi development update, a plan is being prepared to build a 6-kilometre-long portal flyover from Nanaksar Gurudwara on Wazirabad Road to Tronica City (UP Border).
PWD is working on this project with the goal of improving traffic flow and reducing congestion on Sonia Vihar Pushta Road. A private agency has been assigned to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate road conditions, technical challenges, and traffic management possibilities.
Proposed Flyover on Sonia Vihar Pushta Road Will Be 4 Lanes Wide
PWD officials have indicated that the proposed flyover will likely be 4 lanes wide, which will help manage the growing traffic pressure in this region.
The planning is being done carefully so that construction work does not heavily disturb the existing traffic flow. Once completed, this flyover is expected to provide faster travel and smoother road movement for daily commuters.
Why Portal Flyover is the Preferred Option for Wazirabad Pushta Road
Initially, there was a proposal to build a single-pillar flyover, but due to the limited width of Sonia Vihar Pushta Road, it was found that a single-pillar design would not leave enough space for traffic movement underneath.
That is why a portal flyover design is being considered, as it can provide better support and allow smoother traffic flow below.
Key Challenges in Flyover Construction on Sonia Vihar Pushta Road
Although the flyover project can be highly beneficial, officials have highlighted multiple challenges in executing the construction.
One side of the road falls under a floodplain area, where construction is restricted for nearly 300 meters. On the other side, there are several private properties, which makes land acquisition complicated.
Another major issue is the presence of approximately 9,000 to 10,000 large trees along both sides of the road, which may create environmental and clearance-related difficulties.
Sonia Vihar, Sabhapur, Chauhan Patti and Nearby Areas Will Get Major Relief
If this flyover project is completed, it will provide major relief to residents and commuters travelling from areas like:
- Sonia Vihar Pushta-1
- Shriram Colony
- Fourth Pushta
- Sonia Vihar Extension
- Sabhapur
- Chauhan Patti
These localities currently face heavy congestion, and the flyover will help reduce travel time significantly.
Tronica City (UP Border) Will Get Better Road Connectivity with Delhi
One of the biggest advantages of this flyover project will be improved connectivity for Tronica City. With smoother road access from Delhi, Tronica City is expected to benefit in multiple ways, including better daily commuting, improved business movement, and stronger infrastructure development.
Better connectivity can also increase real estate demand and attract new investment opportunities in Tronica City.
Conclusion: Wazirabad Sonia Vihar Pushta Road Flyover Will Improve Delhi-UP Connectivity
The proposed 6 KM portal flyover from Nanaksar Gurudwara (Wazirabad) to Tronica City (UP Border) is being seen as a major step towards solving the traffic congestion problem on Sonia Vihar Pushta Road.
If implemented successfully, this project can improve road travel, reduce daily traffic delays, and strengthen connectivity between Delhi and nearby UP border areas.
